5 Favourites chosen by Bebe Bradley, editor of UKHandmade Magazine
We asked Bebe Bradley, editor of UKHandmade magazine to chose her 5 favourites from Made by Hand, Cardiff this year.
Here are Bebe's choices:
By Bear Hands - jewellery
One of the joys of an event like Made by Hand is discovering new talent. Sally Haysom is a fresh find for me and her beautiful ‘Certain Lights’ bangle caught my eye. The walnut, words, brass and resin make for an elegant combination.
My garden brings me a lot of joy - the plants and the flowers - but funnily enough, I’m not keen on them inside the house. However, I really do love the idea of a wall covered in a framed collection of Kerry Day’s botanical prints. How stunning would that look?
I already own a couple of pieces of Andy Poplar’s work so I may be a bit biased. He never ceases to amaze or amuse me with his ingenious combination of wordsmithery and the found object.
I love the contemporary style and sculptural form of Carol Hunt’s jewellery, and her beautiful linen and precious metal ‘Threads’ collection in particular. Understated and gorgeous.
Lomas Furniture - As William Morris said, “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”. Lomas Furniture certainly fit that bill with their beautifully made, aesthetically pleasing, bespoke wooden furniture.
